Jack Buck
Jack Buck’s unmistakable voice and emotional storytelling made him one of the most beloved figures in KMOX and St. Louis history. Beginning in 1954, Buck called thousands of Cardinals games, capturing timeless moments with his signature call — “That’s a winner!”
More than a play-by-play announcer, Buck was a full-range broadcaster – a storyteller whose humor and humility resonated with fans far beyond the ballpark. His work with KMOX helped define baseball on radio, and his voice became the heartbeat of summer in St. Louis.
In addition to all of his sports work for KMOX and the CBS Radio Network, Buck also hosted the stations “At Your Service” and “Sports Open Line” programs. He was known in St. Louis and the sports world as a bigger-than-life ambassador.
