FRANCE LAUX
France Laux was a broadcasting pioneer and KMOX’s first full-time play-by-play announcer. Beginning in the 1920s, his vivid descriptions of Cardinals baseball brought the game into homes across the Midwest. In the 1930s, Laux was called upon several times to broadcast the World Series for the CBS Network.
When the baseball seasons ended, Laux hosted sports talk shows on KMOX, often bringing in sports personalities as guests. His pioneering work laid the foundation for generations of great sports broadcasters to come, making Laux one of the true architects of KMOX’s legacy as “The Sports Voice of St. Louis.”
